First Aid/CPR/AED Combo

The CPR AED First Aid Combo Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care and the 2015 American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

Designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Choose from two options to complete the course Classroom or Blended Learning

Certifications available from the American Heart Association and the American Safety and Health Institute valid for 2 years. Not sure which certification you need, give us a call.

Option 1:  Classroom

Approx. 7 Hours

Experience a unique, fun, and interactive class video, real life footage, additional science and in depth discussion with hands only practice.

Option 2:  Blended Learning

Online 4 hr. & In person 2 hr.

Blended Learning courses include an online portion that can be completed either at work, home, or wherever students have Internet access, it is designed to teach students cognitive information by implementing - dramatizations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities. The online portion contains required exercises which must be completed before the student can receive a certificate of completion.

After completing the online portion, students will attend a structured, Instructor-led, hands-on session that focuses on meaningful coaching, skills practice, and skills testing. 

Topics

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive First Aid/CPR/AED digital course completion card, valid for two years.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival

  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival

  • Recognize when someone needs CPR

  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult

  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others

  • Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups

  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult

  • Perform high-quality CPR for a child*

  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child*

  • Perform high-quality CPR for an infant*

  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child

  • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*

  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child

  • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*

  • List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of first aid rescuers

  • Describe the key steps in first aid

  • Remove protective gloves

  • Find the problem

  • Describe the assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke.

  • Use an epinephrine pen

  • Control bleeding and bandaging

  • Recognize elements of common injuries

  • Recognize elements of common illnesses

  • Describe how to find information on preventing illness and injury

  • Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers

  • *Child/Infant module is optional.
